We're Walking!

Thursday of this week, Callie decided to start walking. She let go of her daddy and walked over to me on the other side of the room. We've been expecting this for a while now, but it didn't make it any easier! I was crying anyway . . . watching her become a little girl is so hard! She was 4 days shy of being 11 months old when she took her first solo steps. :) We'll be putting up a short video on Monday of her showing off her new found skills. Other than that, this week has been pretty normal. Philip had a day off on Monday, so we continued to work on our first project at the farmhouse, texturizing and painting the hallway. We're over here again today and Philip thinks he's going to finish the texturizing part today. We'll have to wait until next Saturday to start the painting again because it takes a week to set. We're in the process of planning Callie's first birthday party. I think some people may think I'm going a bit overboard for a one-year ...

Moved and Nearly Settled

Well, we've moved over to Granny and Paw-Paw's house to housesit for them until they get back from SPI, TX in March. We've been having a pretty good time, other than the threateningly cold weather outside. We've enjoyed having family time, and ready access to a treadmill to burn off those holiday sweets! :) We've kinda been going back and forth, getting clothes and other necessities as the need arises since we're only a few miles away. There are sometimes that I think of something I'd really like to have there, and I've forgotten it by our next trip out. Overall, we've been enjoying our days and evenings of solitude. There are sometimes I wish I had someone there to help with Callie, but we've been making it work. I was able to go to my first practice for Beethoven's Ninth Symphony last Tuesday. It was hard for me to get out on my own at night and leave Callie with Daddy for awhile, but once I got there, I really enjoyed myself. I'm looki...

The Results of the Mysterious Appointment

So, my "appointment" on Tuesday night was an audition for the local singing group. I got the call last night telling me the results. For purely balance reasons, they don't need any sopranos right now, so I'm not going to be a full time member. However, because they are doing a Beethoven piece this spring and need a bigger ensemble, I'm going to be singing with them in April for this production. I figure this is probably the best of both worlds because I get to be involved, but it's not a full time commitment as my primary role right now needs to be "mom". I'm excited to meet some new people in the area with similar interests and maybe making some new friends! So, Tuesday evenings I'll be singing my little heart out for an hour. Philip's being very supportive and I'm so happy to have a partner who encourages me to be involved in things I love to do! Yay! That's about all the interesting stuff going on lately! Hope your day goes wel...
Philip's sick today. He got sick last night, so neither of us got a very good night's sleep. Philip was looking forward to a short week at work, but I don't think he intended to have today off as well. Oh well. That puts me doing both mine and his chores, so I really don't have time to be writing this! We've been pretty busy since we've been back trying to take care of everything at 2 houses, plus our stuff, plus (of course) Callie! It's been pretty much non-stop! Pray that Philip gets healthy and the rest of us remain healthy! (Especially Callie, I can take it, but I don't know if any of us can handle it if she gets sick too!)

Ahhh Motherhood!

So, I have this feeling that this is just going to be one of those weeks . . . . It all started yesterday when we were running a little later to the airport than I'm comfortable with due to some traffic on our way to Denver. As we were driving, I noticed a particular smell (you know what I'm talking about) coming from our little angel in the carseat next to me. Well, we were late enough that once we got to the airport, we got directly in line for our boarding passes, figuring we would deal with her once we got past security. The security line was fairly long and then we had to take an elevator and a train to get to our boarding gate. No bathrooms along the way. We find our gate as they're beginning to start pre-boarding (i.e. us!) and look over and see a family bathroom across the hall. So, Philip and I both run in there to change Callie. Yeah, it was everywhere. It was to the point where we debated throwing away her entire outfit. We managed to get her cleaned up, with a n...
