Goals & Schedules

My Thanksgiving table decorations. The Schirer-Suters and the Suters came to visit, and ate a meal at our house. I was happy I could repay a small part of the hospitality they have shown us over the years! Callie's first stick person. I wanted to keep it, but it was the paper covering the table . . . so I took a picture! Gabriel eating a sugar cookie made by the Granny Great! Well, I had been doing pretty good with my new schedule. I've followed it to the letter most days, except for the last 2 Tuesdays, I didn't update the blog. The first Tuesday, I have no excuse. I sat down with a cold glass of water after my work out fully intending to update the blog after I rested for a minute only to be startled awake by the sound of Callie coming down the stairs at the end of her nap. Oops! The second Tuesday, I had made up my mind that some things were not going to get done while preparing for and entertaining our family over Thanksgiving & once again, the blogging did not get...

Growth Spurt?

So this week, my normally happy boy has pitched a fit in Walmart, cried at the drop of the hat, fallen asleep at lunch instead of eating, and decided that if Mommy's in the kitchen fixing food he needs to be in his highchair ready to eat. Now, you'd think it wouldn't be much of a problem except for the fact that I normally starting dinner prep around 4, not planning on eating until 5! So I don't know if it's a growth spurt, or teeth, or the time change, or possibly a combination of all three, maybe even none of the above, but Gabe has not been his usual cheerful self. That being said, he does still have his funny moments and his laughing, all his funny looks and words, and oh yeah, his amazing powers of sleep! Callie amazes me in her observations everyday. Today, she was eating her treat and she had three left. She placed them in a right triangle and said, "Look, Mommy!' I looked and I said, "Yes, there are three left now, aren't there?" She r...

Happy Halloween!

Yesterday was, of course, Halloween. I had planned our family costume to be Callie and Gabe in the bathtub (wagon) with Gabe as the rubber ducky. But, as is a woman's prerogative, I changed my mind. We instead went as a lucky ducky, funky monkey, funny bunny, and fat cat. I titled our Halloween theme "The Rhyme Time Bookers"! We did not get very many family photos yet as we have a costume party for our church group on Sunday, so I thought it would be a better time to try to get photos then. The kids really loved trick or treating. Gabriel got especially into it. The first house, we showed him how to pick one treat out of the bowl and then put it in his bucket. The next house, he walked right up, took a treat and put it in. He lugged that bucket all over town, refusing to let us carry it. When we had to get back in the car, I put it down on the floor. He got so mad! He cried all the way to the next set of houses, until we got him out and handed his bucket back. Then he wad...
