Philip was in Chicago last week and he took the laptop with him. I've been so Internet deprived, I've been on the computer all morning. Sometimes I feel like checking facebook every 5 minutes is the modern day equivalent to watching paint dry. It's boring, but somehow it keeps calling me back.
Last week, Callie and I spent a lot of time together. With Philip being gone, I felt like I got a lot more done because I didn't think "Oh, I'll wait 'til Philip gets back to do that," instead I would do chores when I first thought of them. Hopefully, I can continue that attitude and keep up with everything better than I have been.
Callie's also doing a lot better about playing on her own for longer periods of time, so that also gives me more opportunities to get chores done and I've been doing some more baking, which she appreciates. :) Last week, I also started walking with Callie because the weather FINALLY cleared up for a couple days. She loves being outside so much. She also had fun watching me plant my vegetable garden out at the farm, which is another thing I'm looking forward to working with this summer. I'm sure Callie is going to have a lot of fun out playing in the dirt!
I guess the biggest news of last week was that I had LASIK surgery and I now have better than perfect vision without the use of glasses or contacts. It was an amazing experience! I haven't had trouble with side effects for the most part. The worst thing is probably that my eyes are a little dry in the morning and on occasion throughout the day. But nothing severe or painful at all. I am SO happy with the results!
On the day of my surgery, my parents had agreed to keep Callie for the rest of the day and then overnight. I was looking forward to my first night off in 15 months and had stockpiled some movies, all ready for a little break. But, it didn't really work out how I planned. No, Callie was fine. I was the one crying the whole day. I ended up having her brought back to the apartment and she spent the night with me. She actually was a very good girl and didn't bother my goggles much at all. I told Philip that I don't think it would have been such a big deal had he been home, but the fact that I was all alone for the first time in almost 3 years, I guess it just sent me over the edge. Oh well, she'll grow up quickly enough as it is, I might as well cherish all the time she spends with me now! :)
As far as what's new with Callie, she's been signing more things and picking up new signs faster. She's also saying more "words", but probably not that anyone who hasn't been around her all the time would recognize as words. She says "what's this?" but it's more like "sus sis?" It's really funny though because you can tell when she's asking a question because her little voice goes up at the end like you're supposed to! She also says mama, dada, baby, and go go. She climbs up and down the stairs all by her self and can get onto and off of the furniture. She loves hiding things around the house in drawers and cabinents where they're not supposed to be, so I've started dedicating certain drawers and cupboards to her and I hide things in there for her to find later. She really enjoys our little games. :)
I think that's about all the bragging everyone can take so I'll stop! I hope everyone has a good week. Keep in touch and God Bless you and yours!
