23 Months Old!

Callie is 23 months old today! I have a little over a month to plan her 2nd birthday party, which seems absolutely crazy. I can't possibly have a daughter who's almost 2! Our party plans for this year are a "Noah's Ark" theme. Callie loves animals so much, so we're planning the party around all her favorite animal friends, in twos! (Kinda perfect, right?)

Things are going on as normal around here. Callie plays all morning until lunch, then takes a nap after lunch, then plays the rest of the day until dinner. It gets busy after dinner with bath, warm milk before bed, story time and song time, then to bed by 8:00. That's our typical schedule except for 1-2 days a week we go to Peoria or Bloomington to get groceries or sometimes just to get out of the house!

Callie loves to play pretend with her dishes and cups. She's always mixing up something for us to try. She also loves to play with her building blocks, usually adding them to the dishes she's making. She also takes a bear and wraps her in a blanket and carries her around the house at least once a day. She's still surprising me with everything that she knows. Yesterday, she was enjoying playing with her hat and mittens. I probably put them on her at least 20 times. She would get her hat on, then hold out her hands for the mittens. She would then proceed to walk to the door (mind you, she was in her feety pajamas) and say "Outside! Snow!" At least she almost knows how to prepare to go out when it's snowing!

My parents are hoping to be in their house by the second week in February. Of course, it originally the end of December, then it was the second week of January, now we're to the second week of February . . . so don't count on me holding my breath. Sometimes it seems when you're counting on something, someone gets delayed, something doesn't get shipped, a mistake is made, or something takes longer than was planned, which is a list of everything that's gone on since December 1st. No one's fault, just the way the cookie crumbles! :-) Oh well, whatcha gonna do?

Now that I'm safely back at my starting weight it means I can start doing my pregnancy work outs. I've felt very lazy not being able to do anything extra, of course now the question is, where do I fit that into my schedule? Did I really fit it in before? Actually it was a lot easier when I could take Callie on a walk to the park. The weather now is not really appropriate for that kind of work out though . . . I'm sure I'll find something and some time!

That's about all that's going on around here lately. The anticipation of finally getting a permanent residence after nearly 1 1/2 years, Callie growing and making us laugh on a daily basis, and us plugging along in our average, everyday lives.

I hope you all have a great week! God bless you and yours!

Sunday Morning

Yesterday, Callie came into my room while I was finishing up getting ready for church by putting on my jewelry. Callie: Mommy, you're very pretty. Me: Callie, that's very sweet. Thank you! Callie: You're welcome. Daddy's pretty too! Me: Oh Callie, you need to go tell him that . . . :)

Meanwhile, back at the Farm . . .

We're having some exciting happenings around the Booker Farm so I thought I'd write a little bit about what's going on with the kiddos. Callie Callie is so excited that we now have two dogs and three cats. Their names are (dogs) Belle and Ariel, (cats) Duchess, Dixie, and Thomas O'Malley -- Tom for short. She is very excited to be wrapping up another school year and looking forward to our travels this summer. She is taking on more responsibility around the house (which I love) and doing an excellent job for the most part in taking care of all the animals. I'm certainly enjoying watching her grow and blossom in so many ways, but this is especially significant to me. Philip and I are really striving to raise our children to be responsible, caring, and kind adults! I'm now teaching her on Wednesday Night Bible Class and I love observing her for the first time in a classroom setting as her teacher as well. She is a delight to have in class, if I may s...

Sometimes it's hard . . .

I feel like I've finally awoken from a long, chaotic dream. The past couple of weeks have gone so much more smoothly. The first 3 (or so) months with a new baby just throws my world upside down and inside out. While I'm in it, I find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel --  that time when we all adapt to each other and find our new routine. I'm not saying I don't love it, because I do. I just don't love all of it! So I'll do a quick little catch up, write Nolan's birth story in another post and we'll be back on track. For a little bit at least. I think I've said before that I love writing. I mean love it. But for some reason, I've never been good at keeping a journal. I really want to. There are so many moments I want to make sure I write down and remember and I want to be good at keeping track of everything. But over and over again I prove it's just not something that I'm consistent with. It irritates me to the point th...
