Cute little pumpkin for Halloween! (Noticing a trend?!?)

-- Some pictures from the past few months so you can see how Callie has grown! Christmas and more winter pictures to come in the next post! --

Well, we're back in the farmhouse with my parents. We moved back in with them December 23rd. Yep, it was a busy Christmas which is why my Christmas cards were late, my presents weren't all finished and wrapped in time, and I'm still searching for and eventually finding things I meant to do last year.

You're probably thinking, Why is this her first post, nearly a month after she moved into the house with internet? I'll answer that question. Our internet service at the farm had been provided by DTN Speed Net for many years now. The problem is, they have not been maintaining their connection properly over the years and it is now to the point where it is almost slower than dial-up connections. For example, it took me almost 30 minutes to log into facebook, which timed out, of course. I wasn't about to do anything I didn't absolutely have to do online since it was such a headache. So now, we've switched over to Verizon. The problem is now that our connection is complicated. My parents are supposed to be taking their number and internet connection with them to the new house (when? they don't really know), and Philip and I are only planning on having an internet connection and not a home phone. So, Verizon has messed up our connection at least 2 times so far trying to figure out what we're actually asking them to do. Anyway, that's the short answer to why this is my first blog post since we moved to the apartment.

So, what's gone on in the Booker family for the past few months? Well, I'm sure most if not all of you know that I'm pregnant with Baby Booker #2, affectionately known as GabeKenzie until February 5th when we hope to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. My 1st trimester was very different from my first pregnancy, I had a lot of trouble eating. Fortunately that has passed now, and I am almost back to my starting weight! :) There are times that I've almost forgotten that I'm pregnant, but lately I've been feeling those first little kicks that remind me.

Callie has grown like a weed. Actually, she was 27'' tall and 27 lbs. at her 18 months appointment and today she is 33'' tall and 30 lbs. Callie will be 2 in a little more than a month, which is blowing my mind! I'm so excited to see her learn and grow. I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband who supports me staying at home with my babies not only monetarily but emotionally and mentally as well!

Callie loves to sing and dance, she actually has matched my pitch while I've been singing in church on more than one occasion. I might have a performer on my hands! (Not that I know where that comes from, of course, says the girl that used to stand on her grandparent's hearth and sing into her great-grandmother's cane!) Callie also loves "Momo's Woold" (Elmo's World) and "Wood Woold" (Word World). At the end of Word World every day, they have all these kids shout "School!" as they spell it on the screen. Callie loves to say "Sool" with them, but I always thought she was just repeating what they were saying. I found out the other day though, that was wrong. We were upstairs and she was getting dressed in her hat and mittens like she was going somewhere. She said "Bye! See ya!" and I asked her where she was going. She launched into this long story and then at the end she said "and Sool!"

It's been a pretty cold and dreary winter so far. We've considered going on a vacation to make sure we're not Vitamin D deficient by the end of winter, but it seems like most of the country is in the same boat. Callie and I have been at the house since Monday, so I'm sure once the weather clears up we're going to be trying desperately to cure our cabin fever.

In other news, we're working on the nursery that we'll need by June 15th and I just ordered the wallpaper that we need for one wall yesterday. I'm looking forward to the part of the project that I can actually help with! This time we're going with a variety of yellows as the main color, and then pops of green (and maybe pink or blue once we know) to accent the room. Hopefully I get to post pictures of the finished room soon! :)

Philip's job is going well for the most part. The school is booming, he's got a good amount of work on his hands to keep him busy, but not too busy, and he's enjoying his co-workers.

Well, I think that about covers the comeback post. We've had an eventful time these past few months, but I'm not going to try to actually catch everyone up on all of it. This has been a summary of the Booker's life up until now, and I hope to keep you updated more often (as I've often said before!).

I hope everything is going well with everyone out there. We love and miss all of our family and friends that live apart from us! God bless you and yours!

Love the pictures! I hope everything gets settled before GabeKenzie arrives.
Glad to read and see the updates! It has been a while since we have caught up, I guess I will have to call soon.

Sunday Morning

Yesterday, Callie came into my room while I was finishing up getting ready for church by putting on my jewelry. Callie: Mommy, you're very pretty. Me: Callie, that's very sweet. Thank you! Callie: You're welcome. Daddy's pretty too! Me: Oh Callie, you need to go tell him that . . . :)

Meanwhile, back at the Farm . . .

We're having some exciting happenings around the Booker Farm so I thought I'd write a little bit about what's going on with the kiddos. Callie Callie is so excited that we now have two dogs and three cats. Their names are (dogs) Belle and Ariel, (cats) Duchess, Dixie, and Thomas O'Malley -- Tom for short. She is very excited to be wrapping up another school year and looking forward to our travels this summer. She is taking on more responsibility around the house (which I love) and doing an excellent job for the most part in taking care of all the animals. I'm certainly enjoying watching her grow and blossom in so many ways, but this is especially significant to me. Philip and I are really striving to raise our children to be responsible, caring, and kind adults! I'm now teaching her on Wednesday Night Bible Class and I love observing her for the first time in a classroom setting as her teacher as well. She is a delight to have in class, if I may s...

Sometimes it's hard . . .

I feel like I've finally awoken from a long, chaotic dream. The past couple of weeks have gone so much more smoothly. The first 3 (or so) months with a new baby just throws my world upside down and inside out. While I'm in it, I find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel --  that time when we all adapt to each other and find our new routine. I'm not saying I don't love it, because I do. I just don't love all of it! So I'll do a quick little catch up, write Nolan's birth story in another post and we'll be back on track. For a little bit at least. I think I've said before that I love writing. I mean love it. But for some reason, I've never been good at keeping a journal. I really want to. There are so many moments I want to make sure I write down and remember and I want to be good at keeping track of everything. But over and over again I prove it's just not something that I'm consistent with. It irritates me to the point th...
