Catching up

Well, as you can tell by my lack of blogging, I've had spotty internet service for most of the month of February. For some unknown reason, internet and the farmhouse just don't seem to want to get along! At least this time, we got someone out here a lot faster and got the problem resolved (fingers crossed).

Most of you know from my quick facebook update that we're having a boy! Gabriel Allen is expected June 15th, almost a month after his daddy's 26th birthday and a little over a month before our 4th wedding anniversary.

My pregnancy with Gabe has been a lot different than my first pregnancy with Callie. Right now, at 7:45 am, I could eat an entire fridge full of food, and in the afternoons, I'm just starving, but by dinner tonight, I probably won't be hungry at all. Gabe also tends to kick my organs behind him instead of toward the outside, which is a really funny feeling. (I think I'm going to say I prefer Callie's style on this one.) I think my belly is bigger this time, which is typical in your second pregnancy, but I actually haven't gained the "recommended" weight up to this point. I believe this hungry thing in the mornings and afternoons will help me catch up a little too quickly if I'm not careful! Other than those things, and being a little bit more tired because I can't take a nap whenever I feel like I need one, things are going along normally.

Callie is going to be 2-years-old in one week! Oh My Goodness! We're having a party with our church family next Saturday and then our family party will wait until Gramma and PaPaw are here from Texas on March 8th. The lady that has made all our special occasion cakes has semi-retired, only doing weddings, so I'm unhappily trying to find another bakery to match quality and price, which I'm pretty sure isn't going to happen. I've got two cakes ordered from two different bakeries, so we'll be doing a taste test.

Unfortunately, that taste test will be without Philip because he got told after we planned the party that the business trip that he was originally supposed to go on, then told he couldn't go, had an available spot and that he needed to go. So Philip will be leaving for San Antonio, Texas on the day of the party and he will be there through March 3rd. We'll have a special celebration with Daddy on her birthday to make up for him missing the church party.

In moving news, we're supposed to have a house to ourselves by this Sunday! My parents are planning on living in their new house starting Saturday. We probably won't have everything of theirs totally moved for a little bit, but if we can get them set up for the most part, they'll be 1/8 mile down the road Saturday night, enjoying their new house! And we'll be enjoying some Booker family time! :) YAY! (We'll see how it goes today, hopefully nothing to change their plans. . . )

Well, I guess that's all the news I have for now. I've been really busy trying to get things organized for a quick move in to place move for us while my parents are moving things out. Our bed is supposed to be delivered next week, so we are really happy that everything finally seems to be coming together and after almost exactly a year and a half, we'll actually have a place to call our home!

God bless you and yours this weekend! Keep our moves in your prayers that everything goes off without a hitch!

Sunday Morning

Yesterday, Callie came into my room while I was finishing up getting ready for church by putting on my jewelry. Callie: Mommy, you're very pretty. Me: Callie, that's very sweet. Thank you! Callie: You're welcome. Daddy's pretty too! Me: Oh Callie, you need to go tell him that . . . :)

Meanwhile, back at the Farm . . .

We're having some exciting happenings around the Booker Farm so I thought I'd write a little bit about what's going on with the kiddos. Callie Callie is so excited that we now have two dogs and three cats. Their names are (dogs) Belle and Ariel, (cats) Duchess, Dixie, and Thomas O'Malley -- Tom for short. She is very excited to be wrapping up another school year and looking forward to our travels this summer. She is taking on more responsibility around the house (which I love) and doing an excellent job for the most part in taking care of all the animals. I'm certainly enjoying watching her grow and blossom in so many ways, but this is especially significant to me. Philip and I are really striving to raise our children to be responsible, caring, and kind adults! I'm now teaching her on Wednesday Night Bible Class and I love observing her for the first time in a classroom setting as her teacher as well. She is a delight to have in class, if I may s...

Sometimes it's hard . . .

I feel like I've finally awoken from a long, chaotic dream. The past couple of weeks have gone so much more smoothly. The first 3 (or so) months with a new baby just throws my world upside down and inside out. While I'm in it, I find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel --  that time when we all adapt to each other and find our new routine. I'm not saying I don't love it, because I do. I just don't love all of it! So I'll do a quick little catch up, write Nolan's birth story in another post and we'll be back on track. For a little bit at least. I think I've said before that I love writing. I mean love it. But for some reason, I've never been good at keeping a journal. I really want to. There are so many moments I want to make sure I write down and remember and I want to be good at keeping track of everything. But over and over again I prove it's just not something that I'm consistent with. It irritates me to the point th...
