So excited!

Playing in her new bed.

We're getting ready for our first vacation since our honeymoon. Leaving early in the morning on Friday! :) I'm trying to get things organized around here before we leave.

Last week was busy, I hosted a shower for my friend at my house, so the last few days have been busy trying to get things in place. It's not settled yet, we still don't have all our boxes unpacked and things aren't all in their final places. Like I've said before, now that we're past the shower, our next room to get ready is the nursery. :) Only a couple months to go!

The shower went really well. I think everyone enjoyed it. There was lots and lots of CUBS gear in honor of the proud daddy having his little boy! We were excited to be able to have a celebration for our friends.

One day last week, Callie and I were shopping at TJMaxx and I told her we had to stop over in the baby section. She said "Okay, baby." and so we walked over that direction. All of the sudden she said, "Baby!" like she saw a baby. I looked all around, even in the pictures on the wall, and I said "Callie, I don't see a baby. Where do you see a baby?" And she says to me "Mama, this baby!" and pats my stomach. I think we might be catching on! :)

Then, on the way over to Granny Great's house, Callie was talking and talking in the back. All of the sudden, she gets really quiet. I asked her, "Callie what are you doing? You stopped talking." To which she replies, "(sigh) Just thinking."

I think she's turning quite the little personality. Of course, she's already had a lot of character showing through, it's just more official now when you add the vocabulary. A fair warning to all: If you don't want it repeated, don't say it in front of Callie! She copies me all the time. Fortunately, I've been trying to "toddlerize" my vocabulary so she's not saying things that are inappropriate for her to say. For instance, I try not to say "Shut up", even jokingly, so I don't have a two-year-old telling an adult somewhere "Shut up!" (That would be a red-faced moment!) It's amazing when you think about everything you say during a day that, even though not bad in and of itself, you would not want coming out of the mouth of your two-year-old.

Since we're taking our laptop on vacation with us, I hope to be posting pictures and travel diaries from the road. We hope everyone has a good week! I know it's going to be busy around here getting ready!

God bless you and yours this week!

Sunday Morning

Yesterday, Callie came into my room while I was finishing up getting ready for church by putting on my jewelry. Callie: Mommy, you're very pretty. Me: Callie, that's very sweet. Thank you! Callie: You're welcome. Daddy's pretty too! Me: Oh Callie, you need to go tell him that . . . :)

Meanwhile, back at the Farm . . .

We're having some exciting happenings around the Booker Farm so I thought I'd write a little bit about what's going on with the kiddos. Callie Callie is so excited that we now have two dogs and three cats. Their names are (dogs) Belle and Ariel, (cats) Duchess, Dixie, and Thomas O'Malley -- Tom for short. She is very excited to be wrapping up another school year and looking forward to our travels this summer. She is taking on more responsibility around the house (which I love) and doing an excellent job for the most part in taking care of all the animals. I'm certainly enjoying watching her grow and blossom in so many ways, but this is especially significant to me. Philip and I are really striving to raise our children to be responsible, caring, and kind adults! I'm now teaching her on Wednesday Night Bible Class and I love observing her for the first time in a classroom setting as her teacher as well. She is a delight to have in class, if I may s...

Sometimes it's hard . . .

I feel like I've finally awoken from a long, chaotic dream. The past couple of weeks have gone so much more smoothly. The first 3 (or so) months with a new baby just throws my world upside down and inside out. While I'm in it, I find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel --  that time when we all adapt to each other and find our new routine. I'm not saying I don't love it, because I do. I just don't love all of it! So I'll do a quick little catch up, write Nolan's birth story in another post and we'll be back on track. For a little bit at least. I think I've said before that I love writing. I mean love it. But for some reason, I've never been good at keeping a journal. I really want to. There are so many moments I want to make sure I write down and remember and I want to be good at keeping track of everything. But over and over again I prove it's just not something that I'm consistent with. It irritates me to the point th...
