We are so happy to be spending our holiday with our southern family! It has been really exciting traveling around southeast Texas and meeting our new nephew, Oliver, for the first time!
Our travels down here went very well -- a welcome surprise considering the headache of traveling up to Mayo Clinic just a few weeks ago. Gabriel rode well, and Callie's always been a champion traveler. Part of it could be the fact that I tried something new while traveling this time. When Gabriel would get fussy on our trip to Minnesota, we'd pull over, I'd nurse him and then we'd walk around for a while. We'd then get back in the car and try to drive again. This time, we walked around holding Gabriel as much as we could first, then I'd feed him right before we got back on the road. It seemed to work out much better, or Gabriel's outgrown his hatred of the carseat! Either way, I'm ecstatic it went as well as it did! All 19 or so hours of it!
We leave tomorrow for Austin to visit extended family on Papaw's side. We should be there through Thanksgiving and then leave Friday morning to be back to Illinois (hopefully) Saturday afternoon.
We've enjoyed our time at Gramma and Papaw's house. We even got to go for a date night out to Harry Potter 7 last night! (We went to a late night showing after the kids went to bed). We really enjoyed the movie, but I can't remember the last time I purposely chose to stay up past midnight! Now I'm really sounding old!! :)
Gabriel was really excited to play with a baby that's smaller than he is. He got a little rough, he's got quite the grip! He explored all over Oliver's face and even gave him a couple of his famous, slobbery kisses. Poor Oliver! I bet it was tramatic!
Callie is loving all the attention from Gramma and Papaw and has started saying "Oh sure!" to most questions she gets asked. Really cute!
Anyway, that's about all the new things here. Hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving filled with loved ones and precious memories! We certainly have a lot to be thankful for this year. God bless you and yours this holiday!
