Gabriel turns 2 (3 months ago . . . )

So a lot has happened in the months since my last post. My little baby boy turned two, we hosted our family for a wonderful week together, we went on our first (and last) big family trip as a family of 4 . . . But here it is, my big catch up. We'll start with Gabriel's birthday party! Here is the birthday boy's special seat! Complete with a safari hat and giraffe, his favorite "G" animal.

Our table. Not as decorated as I intended it to be, but I was so sick . . . His next birthday will have to be a blowout!

Plates and napkins.
Cake!
Always so cute!

He was REALLY excited, even if mommy wanted to do more than she actually got done.

Party hat time!

Yummy food, thanks to Daddy!

All the presents :)

Very concentrated while opening his presents

A new truck!

And a tricycle!

He LOVED his "bicycle". Gabriel is so funny, he insists on saying the full word even when we tell him, "You can just say bike, rhino, hippo, etc . . . " No, he MUST pronounce every syllable!

Happy Birthday to you!

Delicious cake as usual . . . Less of a mess than last year though!

Ok, so here's the story on this one. Every year at church we have "Sidewalk Celebration". We invite kids from the local trailer park to come to this VBS-type event each Wednesday during June, with the last one being at our building. I was unable to go most nights because I was very ill in June, so I was very disappointed to have missed this scene. Gabriel won the grand prize, a brand new bicycle! They called his name and he ran up to the front to sit on a bicycle that was taller than him. The church let us go pick out a bike that was more his size later!

So, since Gabriel just got a new tricycle that's his size for his birthday, we decided to get a "neutral" bike that could serve as Callie's training bike for now and be Gabe's next step up bike. Since they both love "Cars" and apparently there is no such thing as a "gender neutral bike" at this age, we went with this.

He had fun on this bike regardless of the fact that it's a little too big for him and is very happy about his prize!

So the next event in June/July was our first Cousin Camp. Thanks to Aunt Kaylin for being a super-photographer and documenting our time together! I was a little worried about how I was going to pull this all off since I'd been sick for so long with little to no relief in sight. But I managed (with lots of help from the family!) to pull it all together and cook for the first time in almost 3 months the day the family arrived. The rest of the week went (relatively??) smoothly and we all had a good time together!

So that's my catch up for June/July! Now if I can catch up August and September before the next month hits, I'll have reached my goal! :) lol

Sunday Morning

Yesterday, Callie came into my room while I was finishing up getting ready for church by putting on my jewelry. Callie: Mommy, you're very pretty. Me: Callie, that's very sweet. Thank you! Callie: You're welcome. Daddy's pretty too! Me: Oh Callie, you need to go tell him that . . . :)

Meanwhile, back at the Farm . . .

We're having some exciting happenings around the Booker Farm so I thought I'd write a little bit about what's going on with the kiddos. Callie Callie is so excited that we now have two dogs and three cats. Their names are (dogs) Belle and Ariel, (cats) Duchess, Dixie, and Thomas O'Malley -- Tom for short. She is very excited to be wrapping up another school year and looking forward to our travels this summer. She is taking on more responsibility around the house (which I love) and doing an excellent job for the most part in taking care of all the animals. I'm certainly enjoying watching her grow and blossom in so many ways, but this is especially significant to me. Philip and I are really striving to raise our children to be responsible, caring, and kind adults! I'm now teaching her on Wednesday Night Bible Class and I love observing her for the first time in a classroom setting as her teacher as well. She is a delight to have in class, if I may s...

Sometimes it's hard . . .

I feel like I've finally awoken from a long, chaotic dream. The past couple of weeks have gone so much more smoothly. The first 3 (or so) months with a new baby just throws my world upside down and inside out. While I'm in it, I find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel --  that time when we all adapt to each other and find our new routine. I'm not saying I don't love it, because I do. I just don't love all of it! So I'll do a quick little catch up, write Nolan's birth story in another post and we'll be back on track. For a little bit at least. I think I've said before that I love writing. I mean love it. But for some reason, I've never been good at keeping a journal. I really want to. There are so many moments I want to make sure I write down and remember and I want to be good at keeping track of everything. But over and over again I prove it's just not something that I'm consistent with. It irritates me to the point th...
