Planning Mode Initiated

Well, we are in full force party planning mode here at the Booker's house. When I am able to be up and about, I'm doing extra organizing and cleaning and when I'm down for the count, I'm researching, designing and making lists.

I can't believe in less than a week my "baby" girl is turning 6 years old. It seems so surreal! I know I say it every birthday, every year, but wow! It's true what they say about the days being slow but the years being fast.

I'm hoping to do Callie's 6 year photos tomorrow since she has a day off school. It's hard to catch the right lighting working around school hours. (Right now, especially, being winter!) So that will be fun to add to the blog soon.

Nolan is taking an independent step here and there, but is still showing very little to no interest in walking by himself. It doesn't help that he can easily get big brother or sister to push him around the house on his tricycle! He seems to be making more sounds sometimes, but other times it's the same as he's been doing. The other day, I was changing his diaper before nap time and he kept signing "more" and saying "mo".

"What do you want more of, Nolan?" I would ask.
And he would just continue signing and saying, "Mo."
Finally, I had to give him an answer to let him know I was understanding what he was telling me.
"No more right now, it's nap time."

He wasn't too terribly disappointed it seemed, but he hasn't really done it again either. He probably wonders why it didn't get him anywhere the first time!

Gabriel seems to have caught the counting bug. He counts and counts and counts.

"29 . . . What comes next again?"

"30," I reply.

"Right, 30. 31, 32, 33 . . . . "

He's pretty good at the in-between numbers, we just have to keep working on the order of the 10s!

He's really into singing as well. He sings everywhere we go! His favorite as of this moment seems to be "Peace like a river" with all the motions. It's really cute to hear his little voice singing around the house. It's a good smile for my day. :-)

We're 12 weeks into the pregnancy as of yesterday, so I'm hoping by this time next week, I'll be miraculously feeling like myself again. It's not that I've been feeling terrible all of the time, but it'd sure be nice to stay up past the kids bedtime with my husband and spend some time with him! And if I'm feeling sick, it's usually in the evening too, so I'm sure Philip's ready for dinner to be under my control again!

I asked him to do the meal planning for this month and he gave up after only finishing about 1/4 of the breakfasts and lunches . . . (the dinners got done only because that's what I helped him do to show him the ropes!) I jokingly asked him if he'd like to do it again and received a big, resounding "NO!" At least I feel a little bit appreciated, although he didn't use those exact words.

Well, I think that's about all the update I have right now. Hopefully, my next post will have a lot more pictures!

God bless you and yours as you finish up your week!

Sunday Morning

Yesterday, Callie came into my room while I was finishing up getting ready for church by putting on my jewelry. Callie: Mommy, you're very pretty. Me: Callie, that's very sweet. Thank you! Callie: You're welcome. Daddy's pretty too! Me: Oh Callie, you need to go tell him that . . . :)

Meanwhile, back at the Farm . . .

We're having some exciting happenings around the Booker Farm so I thought I'd write a little bit about what's going on with the kiddos. Callie Callie is so excited that we now have two dogs and three cats. Their names are (dogs) Belle and Ariel, (cats) Duchess, Dixie, and Thomas O'Malley -- Tom for short. She is very excited to be wrapping up another school year and looking forward to our travels this summer. She is taking on more responsibility around the house (which I love) and doing an excellent job for the most part in taking care of all the animals. I'm certainly enjoying watching her grow and blossom in so many ways, but this is especially significant to me. Philip and I are really striving to raise our children to be responsible, caring, and kind adults! I'm now teaching her on Wednesday Night Bible Class and I love observing her for the first time in a classroom setting as her teacher as well. She is a delight to have in class, if I may s...

Sometimes it's hard . . .

I feel like I've finally awoken from a long, chaotic dream. The past couple of weeks have gone so much more smoothly. The first 3 (or so) months with a new baby just throws my world upside down and inside out. While I'm in it, I find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel --  that time when we all adapt to each other and find our new routine. I'm not saying I don't love it, because I do. I just don't love all of it! So I'll do a quick little catch up, write Nolan's birth story in another post and we'll be back on track. For a little bit at least. I think I've said before that I love writing. I mean love it. But for some reason, I've never been good at keeping a journal. I really want to. There are so many moments I want to make sure I write down and remember and I want to be good at keeping track of everything. But over and over again I prove it's just not something that I'm consistent with. It irritates me to the point th...
