New Trend?

So our local news here in Illinois said it was a new trend for mom's to be blogging in their spare time. As I'm sitting there thinking, "What spare time?" -- I eventually decided it would be in everyone's best interest if I was consistent in my updates. So, hopefully this is a new trend for this mom, I'm going to try and update our blog at least every 3 days if not more.

Since my last post, Callie has started eating some of our meal with us since she has teeth to do it. She really enjoyed her pasta yesterday as you can see from our latest pictures. She's also begun pulling herself up to a standing position. She climbs up on everything and anyone she can. The only problem is she gets up and stands for a long time but then when she gets tired, she's not quite sure how to get down. Needless to say, we've been getting a lot of little bumps these past few days. The crying is mostly caused by hurt pride however, because none of the falls have been to tramatic.

As of this morning, she has started the traditional crawling on hands and knees. She is pretty jerky about the process, still unsure of how exactly to make everything work together. Yesterday, she crawled over to a bench and pulled all it's contents down on herself. So, the baby proofing got moved up to today. We tried to make the best of it, but we've already found some flaws in our new design. And it's all going to have to change at the next stage. I say we put everything not baby friendly in storage and wait for a few years to pull it all out. Just one big room filled with soft things and baby toys.

All in all, I think Callie's doing well for a 8 month old, she's surprising us with her abilities everyday.

Our family is going on a trip up to Chicago a week from Sunday. Philip's job is sending him up there for some job training and Callie and I are going to tag along. We'll be up there for almost a week. I decided I probably should go because his hotel is a block from the mall and he wouldn't utilize this as he should. So if you owe me any money, or were thinking about sending me some, please send it before next Sunday . . . ;) ha!

Sunday Morning

Yesterday, Callie came into my room while I was finishing up getting ready for church by putting on my jewelry. Callie: Mommy, you're very pretty. Me: Callie, that's very sweet. Thank you! Callie: You're welcome. Daddy's pretty too! Me: Oh Callie, you need to go tell him that . . . :)

Meanwhile, back at the Farm . . .

We're having some exciting happenings around the Booker Farm so I thought I'd write a little bit about what's going on with the kiddos. Callie Callie is so excited that we now have two dogs and three cats. Their names are (dogs) Belle and Ariel, (cats) Duchess, Dixie, and Thomas O'Malley -- Tom for short. She is very excited to be wrapping up another school year and looking forward to our travels this summer. She is taking on more responsibility around the house (which I love) and doing an excellent job for the most part in taking care of all the animals. I'm certainly enjoying watching her grow and blossom in so many ways, but this is especially significant to me. Philip and I are really striving to raise our children to be responsible, caring, and kind adults! I'm now teaching her on Wednesday Night Bible Class and I love observing her for the first time in a classroom setting as her teacher as well. She is a delight to have in class, if I may s...

Sometimes it's hard . . .

I feel like I've finally awoken from a long, chaotic dream. The past couple of weeks have gone so much more smoothly. The first 3 (or so) months with a new baby just throws my world upside down and inside out. While I'm in it, I find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel --  that time when we all adapt to each other and find our new routine. I'm not saying I don't love it, because I do. I just don't love all of it! So I'll do a quick little catch up, write Nolan's birth story in another post and we'll be back on track. For a little bit at least. I think I've said before that I love writing. I mean love it. But for some reason, I've never been good at keeping a journal. I really want to. There are so many moments I want to make sure I write down and remember and I want to be good at keeping track of everything. But over and over again I prove it's just not something that I'm consistent with. It irritates me to the point th...
