Busy, Busy!

Since my last post of pictures, we have finished our swim lessons and Sidewalk Celebration (our version of VBS), Gabriel has started rolling up to his side from his front or his back, Callie has really blossomed as a big sister, and I have started working out in an effort to be able to keep up with the kids!

Let's start with what's new with Callie. She's started being more interested in the potty, which I have taken full advantage of. However, it's a day to day type thing, meaning one day she's ready for it and the next day she's not. We've achieved success twice so far! The first time she did it, I praised her so much that she sat on the potty for the next hour and a half. Ha! She's also very interested in music and singing. She sings her ABC's, Old McDonald, Jesus Loves Me, and many, many more. The other day we went to visit Daddy at work and she stood up on a raised eating area in the cafeteria and serenaded us as we ate. She loves helping out with Gabe -- While I'm working out, she often entertains him and puts his pacifier back in. She also goes up to him and touches his belly and says, "Tickle, tickle!" She keeps me on my toes as well, getting into everything, even the things that I've told her over and over again not to mess with! You know when it gets quiet at the Booker house that you need to go investigate.

Gabriel is becoming more and more aware every day. He's smiling a lot, but none captured yet in a picture. He also holds himself up really well and as I said earlier can roll up to his side from his front or his back. It's only a matter of time before he's working his way around the house, I just know it's going to fly by! He sleeps really well (and is pretty predictable, knock on wood, unlike Callie!). He wakes up once during the night and then a little earlier than I normally like to get up, but it's really not a hard schedule to keep, especially since he likes to sleep longer than me most mornings. According to my home scale, he's somewhere close to 10 pounds now and he's filling out quite nicely. :) The biggest problem we've had is that we can't seem to keep his diaper rash under control. I'm trying a new recommendation from the doctor currently and hopefully (fingers crossed) this is not only helping more now, which it looks like it is, but will keep him more comfortable in the long term.

I've begun my post pregnancy work outs, hoping to get back in shape sooner rather than later. Of course, I have to be careful about it so Gabriel gets everything he needs from me as well so I'm not taking it too fast. I'm also trying to find the best schedule for the day. If I want to get something done during a day, it seems like if I don't get it done by lunch it's not getting done! So of course, laundry now takes several half days instead of one full day, but for the most part, we're all adjusting to the changes that need to be made for everyone's needs to be met. The hardest part of the schedule for me is that breakfast is later than normal and lunch is earlier than normal so if I want both, I usually eat them about an hour or so apart. Not very hungry for lunch, but very hungry for breakfast! :) Oh well, I'm sure sooner or later things will change enough that I'll have a little more flexibility.

Philip is working away at ICC. He took a break when Gabriel was born and he and his dad built onto our playground in the backyard. Callie absolutely loves it and I'm sure Gabriel will too, eventually. She always looks out the window at it and talks about her new slide and swing fondly. Philip has also started working out to lose his pregnancy weight . . . ha ha! Just kidding, he just needed to find a new work out routine to do while the gym at ICC undergoes renovations this summer.

Today, I am packing for the Hill Family reunion which is this Friday. This will be Gabriel's first long car trip, so we'll see how it goes! Wish us luck!

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week and weekend! God bless you and yours!

Sunday Morning

Yesterday, Callie came into my room while I was finishing up getting ready for church by putting on my jewelry. Callie: Mommy, you're very pretty. Me: Callie, that's very sweet. Thank you! Callie: You're welcome. Daddy's pretty too! Me: Oh Callie, you need to go tell him that . . . :)

Meanwhile, back at the Farm . . .

We're having some exciting happenings around the Booker Farm so I thought I'd write a little bit about what's going on with the kiddos. Callie Callie is so excited that we now have two dogs and three cats. Their names are (dogs) Belle and Ariel, (cats) Duchess, Dixie, and Thomas O'Malley -- Tom for short. She is very excited to be wrapping up another school year and looking forward to our travels this summer. She is taking on more responsibility around the house (which I love) and doing an excellent job for the most part in taking care of all the animals. I'm certainly enjoying watching her grow and blossom in so many ways, but this is especially significant to me. Philip and I are really striving to raise our children to be responsible, caring, and kind adults! I'm now teaching her on Wednesday Night Bible Class and I love observing her for the first time in a classroom setting as her teacher as well. She is a delight to have in class, if I may s...

Sometimes it's hard . . .

I feel like I've finally awoken from a long, chaotic dream. The past couple of weeks have gone so much more smoothly. The first 3 (or so) months with a new baby just throws my world upside down and inside out. While I'm in it, I find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel --  that time when we all adapt to each other and find our new routine. I'm not saying I don't love it, because I do. I just don't love all of it! So I'll do a quick little catch up, write Nolan's birth story in another post and we'll be back on track. For a little bit at least. I think I've said before that I love writing. I mean love it. But for some reason, I've never been good at keeping a journal. I really want to. There are so many moments I want to make sure I write down and remember and I want to be good at keeping track of everything. But over and over again I prove it's just not something that I'm consistent with. It irritates me to the point th...
