Booker Lately

Gabriel's experimenting with finger foods as hair care products. This is meat sauce hair therapy.

He thinks this new venture in fine eating is just exquisite! lol How can you resist that face??

Gabriel crawling around the house, all over the house, into every nook and cranny!

Beautiful Callie! She's such the little model.

Callie's room after a couple hours of work.

Callie's room before.

Things have been crazy around here. Callie is the smartest little girl! Yesterday, we were out to eat at Chili's and she asked the waitress, "Can I have some more milk, please?" (The please came with a little prompting!) The greatest thing was she waited for our waitress specifically, even though other servers were walking around us. She's one smart cookie!

She still tests me some times. While we were out yesterday, I had told her she needed to stay where I could see her. So she kept stepping farther and farther away from me, asking "Can you see me now?" -- I had a flashback to the Verizon commercials . . .

We're in the process of remodeling Callie's room, so she's camping out in the guest room at the moment. She seems to have adjusted well to the temporary move and tells everyone who comes over that Mommy and Daddy made a big mess of her room - ha!

Gabriel is crawling all over the place, pulling up, starting cruising a little bit -mainly back and forth in a corner- and cut his first tooth on Thursday, March 3rd with a second one close behind from the looks of it! I started giving him more finger foods, I think I've really held him back with this compared to Callie. Subconsciously keeping him a baby longer?!? I don't know, but he's rebelling now! He doesn't want that baby food, give him what we're eating or nothing at all! He's definitely found his voice and will let you know all about it. His cutest thing is waving at people. It's absolutely adorable because he'll just start doing it randomly. Especially if someone's standing by our door, getting ready to leave. As soon as they get to the door, he starts waving like "Alright, leave already people! I've got things to get into!"

Yesterday, he started waving at a man I was talking to about my cell phone. I love it when men just melt because my baby is so cute! lol

In more personal news, I feel like I am at a crossroads in my life. I feel like door after door has been closed, and I'm questioning the meaning of these paths being blocked. I know what I want it to mean, but is it for the right reasons? Is it just to be different? Will it be something I can truly handle? If there was ever a time for a big neon sign, now's it! I've been debating with God about these things and I guess all I can do is pray and ask that the better path be made clear. I know there's not really a right or wrong with this, and I know God will never give me more than I can handle, so maybe He's just asking me to trust Him more and throw out my daily planner. I know I overplan, maybe He's just asking for a little more reliance and a little more of my life. I guess I'll find out!

Philip is a great source of comfort through all this. I've been relying on his quiet strength and unswerving support for a number of weeks of stressful trials.

Now that I've fully accepted it, I've come around to actually enjoying our year of no travel, knowing that our little family gets time together to form our own little traditions when Philip has holiday time. It's kind of exciting, another thing I get to "plan"! :)

Well, I guess that's all the latest in our little corner of the world. I hope you all are having a great week! We love and miss all our family and friends that live far away! God bless you and yours the rest of this week.

I was wondering if you were going to keep us all guessing much longer about these "crossroads" in your life? I'm dying to know!

Sunday Morning

Yesterday, Callie came into my room while I was finishing up getting ready for church by putting on my jewelry. Callie: Mommy, you're very pretty. Me: Callie, that's very sweet. Thank you! Callie: You're welcome. Daddy's pretty too! Me: Oh Callie, you need to go tell him that . . . :)

Meanwhile, back at the Farm . . .

We're having some exciting happenings around the Booker Farm so I thought I'd write a little bit about what's going on with the kiddos. Callie Callie is so excited that we now have two dogs and three cats. Their names are (dogs) Belle and Ariel, (cats) Duchess, Dixie, and Thomas O'Malley -- Tom for short. She is very excited to be wrapping up another school year and looking forward to our travels this summer. She is taking on more responsibility around the house (which I love) and doing an excellent job for the most part in taking care of all the animals. I'm certainly enjoying watching her grow and blossom in so many ways, but this is especially significant to me. Philip and I are really striving to raise our children to be responsible, caring, and kind adults! I'm now teaching her on Wednesday Night Bible Class and I love observing her for the first time in a classroom setting as her teacher as well. She is a delight to have in class, if I may s...

Sometimes it's hard . . .

I feel like I've finally awoken from a long, chaotic dream. The past couple of weeks have gone so much more smoothly. The first 3 (or so) months with a new baby just throws my world upside down and inside out. While I'm in it, I find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel --  that time when we all adapt to each other and find our new routine. I'm not saying I don't love it, because I do. I just don't love all of it! So I'll do a quick little catch up, write Nolan's birth story in another post and we'll be back on track. For a little bit at least. I think I've said before that I love writing. I mean love it. But for some reason, I've never been good at keeping a journal. I really want to. There are so many moments I want to make sure I write down and remember and I want to be good at keeping track of everything. But over and over again I prove it's just not something that I'm consistent with. It irritates me to the point th...
