Running Behind

Well, it seems like the best laid plans . . .

For everyone who doesn't know, we're expecting Baby N in January! We are so excited, but this is not at all what we had planned. Number 1 because January is the start of my Scholastic Bowl season. So we'll see what happens. But it also means right as I'm trying to get last minute things done for all our trips and guests, I'm feeling pretty puny with pregnancy sickness!

I'm so happy that we're expecting, and I hate to be complaining, but it's hard for a planner to have everything thrown out of whack! Despite it all, I feel so blessed that our family is growing once again.

On top of all that, Gabe's birthday is in a week and I haven't even gotten his invitations and announcements started! So, just to let you all know I'm sure they will be late . . . I've got most of his party supplies and things lined up. Hopefully we'll have some guests in attendance!

Argh!

Ok, so enough complaining. You know about me, sick and busy. The rest of the family is doing better!

Callie is looking forward to her first solo swimming lessons. They start next week. She is also very excited about our Florida trip and meeting Baby N. She keeps saying "I can't wait to meet Baby N!" We've been telling her that she's going to have to wait past all the trips and holidays, but we have plenty of plans to keep her occupied. Callie is a very good big sister, helping Gabe all the time and playing together. Mostly they like to play like they're animals. Dogs and cats are highly favored, with the occasional horse or cow. It's cute to watch them playing together.

Gabriel is a mover and a shaker. He crawls all over everyone and everything. He seems to come up with a new word or phrase every day. His vocabulary literally amazes me. I don't know if it's just that he has a knack for words or if it's because he's around even more people who talk all day than Callie was at his age. The other day, Dad came over to see the kids. When he went to leave, Gabe got really upset. Not just the normal upset when someone leaves, but crying fit upset. I finally got him calmed down enough and I asked him, "What's wrong? You know Grandpa has to leave." And he says, between sobs, "Where Bapaw popcorn?" Hahahahaha! Dad got a new popcorn maker and has bringing some over for the kids every few days. So of course, Dad went home and made some popcorn! Nothing like having Grandpa wrapped around your finger!

Philip just had a four day weekend. He would've enjoyed his time off, but he used it all making up for everything I haven't been able to do! He is, however, drastically expanding his chef capabilities! :) His latest project has been building a new fence to expand the backyard. He's doing a great job so far. I can't wait to put up the pictures when he gets it done!

Well, I guess that's about all that's going on around here! Love you all and miss everyone who's away from us.

God bless you and yours this week!

Sunday Morning

Yesterday, Callie came into my room while I was finishing up getting ready for church by putting on my jewelry. Callie: Mommy, you're very pretty. Me: Callie, that's very sweet. Thank you! Callie: You're welcome. Daddy's pretty too! Me: Oh Callie, you need to go tell him that . . . :)

Meanwhile, back at the Farm . . .

We're having some exciting happenings around the Booker Farm so I thought I'd write a little bit about what's going on with the kiddos. Callie Callie is so excited that we now have two dogs and three cats. Their names are (dogs) Belle and Ariel, (cats) Duchess, Dixie, and Thomas O'Malley -- Tom for short. She is very excited to be wrapping up another school year and looking forward to our travels this summer. She is taking on more responsibility around the house (which I love) and doing an excellent job for the most part in taking care of all the animals. I'm certainly enjoying watching her grow and blossom in so many ways, but this is especially significant to me. Philip and I are really striving to raise our children to be responsible, caring, and kind adults! I'm now teaching her on Wednesday Night Bible Class and I love observing her for the first time in a classroom setting as her teacher as well. She is a delight to have in class, if I may s...

Sometimes it's hard . . .

I feel like I've finally awoken from a long, chaotic dream. The past couple of weeks have gone so much more smoothly. The first 3 (or so) months with a new baby just throws my world upside down and inside out. While I'm in it, I find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel --  that time when we all adapt to each other and find our new routine. I'm not saying I don't love it, because I do. I just don't love all of it! So I'll do a quick little catch up, write Nolan's birth story in another post and we'll be back on track. For a little bit at least. I think I've said before that I love writing. I mean love it. But for some reason, I've never been good at keeping a journal. I really want to. There are so many moments I want to make sure I write down and remember and I want to be good at keeping track of everything. But over and over again I prove it's just not something that I'm consistent with. It irritates me to the point th...
