Baby Check

Had a baby check today. Skylar must have been excited that we were listening in because her heartbeat was 160, nice and strong! I've gained about 7 pounds in my 23 weeks, so I'm feeling really good about my health and progress. I've started having a really weird numbness in a rectangular shape on the back of my leg, so we talked about some ways to deal with that. And of course, since I started the birthing class, I've got all these ideas in my head that I wanted to speak to him about. I started off with "I know this is crazy early and we probably can't make any decisions on this right now . . . " So, he eased my mind with some of that as well.

We ran a couple errands then, and I took the boys and Granny to get our tomato and pepper plants for our garden this year. Excited about our garden again this year! Hope we have a good crop this year.

We ate at Steak N Shake per Gabriel's request. It's one of his favorite places to eat and especially at the one on the river. He kept talking about the "Owinois" (Illinois) river. He loves that place! 

We had a nice productive day together so far!

Meanwhile, back at the Farm . . .

We're having some exciting happenings around the Booker Farm so I thought I'd write a little bit about what's going on with the kiddos. Callie Callie is so excited that we now have two dogs and three cats. Their names are (dogs) Belle and Ariel, (cats) Duchess, Dixie, and Thomas O'Malley -- Tom for short. She is very excited to be wrapping up another school year and looking forward to our travels this summer. She is taking on more responsibility around the house (which I love) and doing an excellent job for the most part in taking care of all the animals. I'm certainly enjoying watching her grow and blossom in so many ways, but this is especially significant to me. Philip and I are really striving to raise our children to be responsible, caring, and kind adults! I'm now teaching her on Wednesday Night Bible Class and I love observing her for the first time in a classroom setting as her teacher as well. She is a delight to have in class, if I may s...

Sometimes it's hard . . .

I feel like I've finally awoken from a long, chaotic dream. The past couple of weeks have gone so much more smoothly. The first 3 (or so) months with a new baby just throws my world upside down and inside out. While I'm in it, I find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel --  that time when we all adapt to each other and find our new routine. I'm not saying I don't love it, because I do. I just don't love all of it! So I'll do a quick little catch up, write Nolan's birth story in another post and we'll be back on track. For a little bit at least. I think I've said before that I love writing. I mean love it. But for some reason, I've never been good at keeping a journal. I really want to. There are so many moments I want to make sure I write down and remember and I want to be good at keeping track of everything.
